Customer Notice – New Hazardous Restriction for Saudi Arabia
Posted on Mar 15
Please be aware that Saudi Arabia customs authorities have introduced new regulations regarding hazardous materials and non-hazardous chemicals entering Saudi Arabia via the ports of Jeddah and Dammam.
The new regulations require:
The consignee/importer must submit an approval form to port customs authorities to obtain import approvals and to obtain an endorsement from customs authorities to discharge the cargo
The consignee/importer must submit a verification form to the shipping agent
The shipping agent must complete the form by adding the bill of lading number, port of loading, vessel name/voyage number and the date of arrival, then submit the completed form, along with the hazardous cargo manifest, to the port authority prior to ship arrival
Failure to adhere to these procedures may result in cargo being refused discharge upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. The carrier may have to return the cargo to origin, or hold cargo at another location until all paperwork is satisfactorily completed. Any and all costs for the account of the consignee, with any and all unpaid charges being against the shipper.
