On January 21, 2026, President Trump issued an update through a Truth Social posting that the threat of additional tariffs over the U.S. acquisition of Greenland has been removed.
This comes on the heels of President Trump meeting with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, where they “have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region.”
