President Trump issued a proclamation this afternoon, July 30th, that states all imports of semi-finished copper products and intensive copper derivative products will be subject to a 50% tariff, effective August 1st.
The August 1st date is based on entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption.
The 50% tariff will be on the copper content value, functioning in a similar manner to the Sec 232 Steel and Aluminum tariffs.
The proclamation mentions an Annex of HTS codes impacted, but it is not available at the time of this writing.
