Steel Derivative List Expanded to Include Appliances

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has published in the Federal Register an expansion of the steel derivative list via 90 FR 25208. This new list includes appliances such as refrigerator-freezers, dryers, washing machines, dishwashers, chest and upright freezers, cooking stoves, ranges and ovens, food waste disposals, and welded wire racks – all of which will now have their steel content taxed at 50% effective June 23, 2025.
This is following the previous June 4th increases on the Section 232 Steel and Aluminum duties, from 25% to 50%, with the previous CSMS implementation messages found here (steel) and here (aluminum).
We expect an additional CSMS to follow with a fully updated Sec 232 steel list later this week.
We will continue to monitor this situation and issue updates as needed.
