At the beginning of May 2025 the Section 232 Inclusion Process was implemented, as outlined in 90 FR 18780, allowing the trade community to request inclusion of commodities to Sec 232 Steel and Aluminum derivative lists. The window for inclusion submission is two weeks, opening three times annually – in May, September, and January.
The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has now posted the inclusion requests, totaling 58 requests from more than 40 companies, that starts a two-week comment period. Comments are due on June 4th.
The request cover items from chapters 04 to 95 of the US HTS, with the specific requests visible on BIS website here. BIS will makes its final decisions on which goods from the submissions to include in the Sec 232 Aluminum and Steel derivative lists within the next 60 days – and products added will carry the additional 25% tariff rate.
We will continue to monitor and provide updates as they become available.
