UPDATE MAY 7, 2019:
It is expected that Bangladesh’s main port Chittagong will have to deal with the backlog created by the impact of cyclone Fani for at least another week.
On Monday almost 60,000 TEU, consisting of import, export and empty containers, congested Inland Container Depots (ICDs), with an additional 40,000 TEU being backlogged at the port itself.

The ports of Chittagong, Mongla and Payra have suspended port operations 10 a.m. Thursday local time due to the approach of the cyclone, expecting a heavy backlog as a result of the storm’s impact especially in Chittagong that handles roughly 8,000 TEU daily..
The storm is expected to hit Bangladesh on Friday evening after it made landfall in the Indian state of Odisha.
If that is the case port activities would not resume before Saturday.
More than 100 vessels were moved out of the port for security reasons.
Your V. Alexander Account Team will advise any impact of the cyclone on pending shipments.
