Typhoon Maria Hits China’s East Coast

The typhoon made landfall along China’s east coast Wednesday morning with winds of up to 150 kilometers per hour and caused some damage in east China’s Zhejiang Province.Over 270,000 people had been evacuated from Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, as of Wednesday morning.The typhoon is expected to lose strength during the latter part of Wednesday.No major disruptions in ports or airports have been reported.
July 10, 2018Typhoon Maria is approaching Taiwan, expected to hit the northern provinces and possibly Taipei on Wednesday with heavy winds and rainfall.Northern areas in Taiwan have declared a typhoon holiday for tomorrow.Airlines have cancelled several flights, including international connections, and are expected to cancel more in advance of the typhoon’s approach.Seaports so far will remain open and operate on regular schedules.The typhoon will also impact Japan with heavy rainfall and high winds.
