U.S. CBP has begun issuing notices to Importers of Record (IORs) that are CTPAT-certified. In letters on which V. Alexander & Co., Inc. has been copied, CBP states that, effective November 18, the IOR number may be voided due to concerns regarding the accuracy of information previously submitted on the CBP Form 5106.
Importers are encouraged to review their ACE Secure Portal data for accurate information. The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) has put together a helpful guide on how to check the information in the ACE Importer sub-account.
For reference the CBP Form 5106 can be found here.
Federal Register Notice 91 FR 53627 outlines the initiative and details.
We will continue to monitor this situation and issue updates as needed. Please contact your V. Alexander account team, or you may also contact our Trade Compliance team at tradeinsights@valexander.com with any questions, and you can always follow us on our website www.valexander.com for updates on this and other topics.
