Sec 232 Update: No New Tariffs on Wind Turbines, Robots, Industrial Machines

President Trump issued a proclamation on Oct. 22 regarding the wind turbine and parts investigation initiated in Aug. 2025.
The President also issued an additional proclamation on Oct. 28 for the Sec 232 investigation on robots and industrial machinery which started back in Sep. 2025.
Neither proclamation imposes new tariffs, rather they direct the U.S. Trade Representative and the Commerce Secretary to negotiate with countries that export the goods of each investigation such that the volume of imports ceases to threaten or impair national security.
Cabinet members are to report back on negotiations’ success within 180 days, and depending on the report additional, alternative, remedies may be sought in the future.
