US CBP has issued CSMS # 69711865 to the Trade as advanced notice that ACE will reject entries, starting Sept. 14, that are missing copper smelt and cast information.
This update only impacts certain copper articles from all countries of origin (except for the US) under US HTS classifications:
8544.42.10
8544.42.20
8544.42.90
8544.49.10
Where the copper smelt and cast country is “unknown” the importer may report code “OTH” (other). Full details on the copper smelt and cast can be seen in the original CSMS # 69252300 from July 15 when US CBP first implemented the reporting measure (July 30) for the copper articles.
We will continue to monitor this situation and issue updates as needed.
