Today, September 17, the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) issued a Interim Final Rule (IFR) in the Federal Register outlining the process for requesting inclusions of new products to the Sec 232 Auto Parts tariff. The first inclusion period is set to begin on October 1, 2025.
There is a comment period currently open for the IFR, which is different than the comment period that will open when the auto part inclusion requests begin. This IFR comment period is focused on the rules procedures and processes.
The Sec 232 Auto Part inclusion process will open four times a year, in January, April, July, and October. Each period will have a 14-day inclusion window, followed by a 60-day deliberation period, very similar to the Sec 232 Aluminum & Steel inclusion process.
We will continue to monitor this situation and issue updates as needed. Please contact your V.
