HMM Now Owns Largest Container Ship In The World

HMM, Co. has launched the first of twelve vessels with almost 24,000 TEU capacity, the HMM Algeciras.

The ship is 399.9 meters long and 61 meters in beam, and with a a nominal capacity of 23,964 TEU it is currently be the world’s largest-capacity containership.
The vessel is the first of twelve of this size that HMM ordered, in addition to eight ships of 16,000 TEU to be delivered in the second quarter of 2021.
HMM plans to deploy the Algeciras on THE Alliances’s Far East Europe 4 (FE4) service, although the delivery coincides with tough times for container carriers due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on global trade and shipping.
