Dockworkers Strike at Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta
Posted on Aug 8
Indonesia’s busiest port and its largest container handling location, Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) faces a strike of over 650 dockworkers that is expected to last until 08/10/17.The strike shuts down JICT, which handles about 70% of the port’s import and export transactions, over a bonus payment dispute. The government is scheduled to mediate in the dispute in the coming days.During the strike traffic is directed to other terminals in the port that have so far received 20 vessels that initially were scheduled to be handled at JICT.Delays need to be expected for outgoing and incoming cargo. Your V. Alexander Account Team will notify you should any of your freight be affected by this strike.
