South India Trucker Strike

April 10, 2017
Our partner in India advises us that the trucker strike has been called off across all Indian regions.
March 31, 2017
Our partner from India advised that truckers belonging to the South India Motor Transport Association (SIMTA) went on an indefinite strike on Thursday across the southern states, including the Chennai and Bengaluru areas, to protest higher insurance premiums and a rule to scrap old vehicles.
While truck owners in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana began their strike on Thursday, truck owners in Kerala are expected to join the strike on Friday.
We will monitor the development of this strike and advise updates as they become available, and your V. Alexander Import Team will provide updates on any pending shipments from these areas.
