Dear Valued Customer,Hanjin Shipping, the world’s seventh largest container line, announced its decision to file for court receivership, the equivalent of bankruptcy, in South Korea. This announcement is rippling through the global supply chain particularly during the critical peak shipping season. Effects of this include:Many ports are denying entry of Hanjin ships (LA, Long Beach and others)Nearly all ports are refusing loaded outbound Hanjin containers along with the return of empty Hanjin containers.Ports have implemented additional gate fees for Hanjin containersSpace with other carriers is becoming an issue as carriers scramble to accommodate the additional demandWith the complexity of this unprecedented event, delays will occur.
